Falcon 3U

Falcon is the ideal solution for the delivery of operation critical high-quality broadcast services over Wide Area Networks.

atecom's Falcon is the perfect solution for the delivery of operation critical high-quality broadcast services over SDH-, PDH-, ATM- or fiber networks. More than 10 years of experience in the field of video transmission for professional broadcast has lead to this revolutionary system design, avoiding any single point of failure within the system. Its build-in redundancy and protection switching features assure high availability and support for unattended operation.

Providing scalable redundancy, ranging from redundant power supplies, over redundant network interfaces up to redundant service cards, the Falcon allows for configurations perfectly fitting your needs and requirements and helps you to make the best use out of your existing infrastructure.

Supporting multiple levels of protection switching the Falcon eliminates the need for external components. This reduces the cost of the entire installation and enables for fast automatic protection switching without intervention of a management system.

Hot-plug and hot-swap support ease the maintenance and allow for system upgrades, while in operation. If your needs for reliability or service density grows, the system can be easily enhanced.
All service cards, as well as the aggregation cards, are designed for standalone operation without control of a central processor. To reach this independency each card is equipped with a local CPU for control and operation.

The Falcon offers an aggregated bandwidth of up to 8Gb/s, more than enough for future extensions.
To avoid disturbances of other services in case of a failure of a hardware component, all data paths are realized by point-to-point connections.

Key Features:

  • Scalable redundancy
  • AC- and DC-PSUs in mixed configuration
  • 2 Controller slots
